Cocoa Hazelnut Pancakes

If you’re trying to stick to your New Years resolution don’t sweat it, these are low in sugar and have plenty of healthy additions! They have no added sugar, all the sweetness comes from the dark chocolate. They’re full of fiber from the whole wheat flour, and healthy fats/protein from the hazelnuts. Without any further ado I present these amazing, healthier than Nutella, Chocolate Hazelnut Swirl Pancakes! Enjoy Friends!

Ingredients: 

  • 1 ½ c. whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup almond milk or 1% milk
  • 1/2 tsp. Hazelnut extract
  • Melted Dark Chocolate
  • Chopped Hazelnuts (Topping)
  • Toothpick for chocolate swirl design

Method:

Mix in a large bowl: flour, baking powder, eggs, vegetable oil, milk, and hazelnut extract. Mix thoroughly until batter is smooth. Pour batter onto pan or other heated surface. Add a few drops of melted chocolate on the uncooked and exposed pancake surface. Then use the toothpick in a circular motion around the pancake to give it a nice swirly design. Serve with chopped hazelnuts!

*Note: the design will only work on one side. You should not attempt the design on a fully cooked pancake, the chocolate will burn, and it will not look very pretty.
